Stephen Carson is Director of Operations for OPENPediatrics (http://openpediatrics.org) where he oversees the activities of the OPENPediatrics staff, provides leadership for OP’s content production strategy, and collaborates with BCH leadership and internal and external stakeholders to grow the OP global community and develop supporting revenue for the program.

Prior to joining the OPENPediatrics team, he was Director of Communications and External Relations for MIT OpenCourseWare (http://ocw.mit.edu). His responsibilities there included communications and media relations; sustainability initiatives; strategic partnerships with other organizations; MIT OpenCourseWare’s support of opencourseware projects at other institutions; and project evaluation.

Steve also served as the first president of the OpenCourseWare Consortium (http://ocwconsortium.org) from 2008 to 2011, where he oversaw the incorporation of the organization as an independent non-proft, secured funding to support its operation and helped grow membership to include more than 280 universities globally. He served on the Consortium’s board of directors from 2008 to 2012.

Prior to his work for OPENPediatrics and MIT OpenCourseWare, Steve served as Associate Director of Emerson College’s Division of Continuing Education where – in addition to managing core academic activities of the division – he developed and taught Emerson’s first asynchronous, Web-based distance learning course. Steve earned his MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, and taught creative and expository writing there for five years.
